So, this study is making the news: Women are either bisexual or gay but ‘never straight’ – Telegraph
The researchers said lesbians were the most like men in their responses because it is usually men who show distinct sexual responses to their favourite sex.
Dr Rieger said: “Even though the majority of women identify as straight, our research clearly demonstrates that when it comes to what turns them on, they are either bisexual or gay, but never straight.”
Let’s just say that I’m still skeptical that measurements of physiology are more honest about the complex onion layers of sexual orientation compared to actual behavior, cultural identification. We know that sexuality is fluid, not just in the sense of people changing over the course of a lifetime but also in the sense of constructing their sexuality in different ways in different contexts.
It’s indirectly discussed in this article about the erasure of biseuxal men. There’s something a bit odd about sexologists insistence on defining us in ways that we reject.
